This past Sunday, the golden sands of Cola Beach in Sedgefield were transformed into a hub of community spirit and environmental action, thanks to the efforts of Paul Dougall from RE/MAX Coastal. What started as a simple idea to give back to the coastline quickly turned into an inspiring beach cleanup that brought over 40 dedicated locals together.
Armed with gloves, bags, and determination, volunteers of all ages came out to lend a hand and make a tangible difference. Their mission? To restore the natural beauty of Cola Beach and raise awareness about the importance of protecting our precious coastal environment.

The sense of camaraderie and collective effort was felt throughout the morning as neighbours, families, and friends worked side by side. Laughter, teamwork, and a shared love for the ocean filled the air—proof that when a community comes together, powerful things can happen.
A special thank you goes out to Pili Pili for generously providing space at their stunning beachfront location for the cleanup team to set up camp. Their support helped create a welcoming, organized base for the day’s activities, proving once again that local businesses play a vital role in community-driven initiatives.
This cleanup was more than just a one-off event. It served as a reminder that caring for our environment starts at home—with each piece of trash picked up and each person who shows up. As Paul and the RE/MAX Coastal team have shown, change begins when someone takes the first step.

Let’s keep this momentum going. Together, we can protect our coastline and keep our beaches clean and beautiful—one beach at a time.
